MEMBERS INFORMATION

This page give you details of the 17 Members of NYPA, 9 of whom are appointed from the Councillors of North Yorkshire County Council and the City of York Council and 8 are 'independent' members, appointed from the general public. Together, they form the Authority.

  • Members' Details

    This page contains contact and biographical details of all NYPA's members.

  • Members Allowance Scheme and Expenses

    North Yorkshire Police Authority members are entitled to claim an allowance for the work that they carry out for the Authority. In addition, members are also able to claim for mileage or public transport when attending Authority meetings or attending an event on behalf of the Authority. Allowances are also payable for other people appointed to specific work within the Authority, such as Independent Member Selection Panels and Police Misconduct Panels. The allowance scheme sets out the allowances payable in all these cases, which are updated each April in accordance with the annual pay award to Police Staff Council employees. Councillor Members of NYPA are supplied with computers, printers and internet access by their nominating councils as part of their duties as elected members. Independent Members of NYPA are supplied with this equipment by the Police Authority, if required.

  • Members Attendance Records

    Records of attendances at meetings by members are kept by the support unit and reported annually in June to the Authority. No account is taken in these figures for essential reading, training, preparation time or informal link member meetings. Each individual member attendance is shown on their page, this gives you the overview of all member attendance.

  • Competency Profile

    This details the key competencies necessary for the role of NYPA Member generally, and for specific roles within the Authority. These competencies form the basis of the annual PDR process for members, where their contribution to the work of NYPA is evaluated and areas of development discussed.

  • Code of Conduct

    The Police Authority, by law, must have in place a Code of Conduct for its Members when they are acting on Police Authority business. Members are obliged to comply with this Code. Complaints against alleged breaches of the Code should be made to the Authority's Standards Committee (see below for how to make a complaint against a Member of NYPA).

  • How to make a complaint against a member

    Members of NYPA are obliged to comply with the Authority's Code of Conduct (see above). If you consider that a member (or members) has breached the Code on thier behavior as a Member of NYPA, you can make a complaint to the Authority's Standards Committee.

  • Register of Interests

    This is the Register of Members' Interests maintained by the Authority's Monitoring Officer under Section 81 of the Local Government Act 2000.
